When photographing climbers, try one of three things: look that the background, and take the best picture of the background with the climber in it "incidently," this will help give perspective of the experience; focus on the "action," for instance focus on the act of clipping, center the action with the climber in the "background"; focus on an object being used, for instance, a draw that is being clipped; build the picture around the draw with the climber in the background. Of course, there are plenty of times you just focus on the climber, these are just ideas I'm working on.
